Try http://www.usajobs.gov/ . There are lots of jobs there in every geographic area. Even a few math courses will open up lots of these jobs. A complete major will open up even more.
It appears that PL/I (and its dialects) is, or will be, the most widely used higher level language for systems programming. -- J. Sammet
