The security of RSA and AES are not directly comparable of course. Different attacks and vulnerabilities apply to each. Also key size isn't everything either. The actual security of a system depends on many factors, including the implementation in code, the algorithms used, and the overall system design...plus you know a water board or a tazer to the nutsack can usually break any of them at some point too ðYoe. The RSA keys are much much larger as it requires significantly larger keys to achieve the same level of security as AES for many reasons to long to go into, however this is one reason why AES is often preferred for encrypting large amounts of data. It's also worth noting that Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) offers similar security to RSA with much smaller key sizes however ECC is not quantum resilient, just like RSA or anything else made over about 10 years ago. There have been quite a few photos made by the bleeding edge models that in fact I couldn't recognize as a deepfake in the 300 milliseconds my brain might allocate to any given photo unless it's Elon embracing Harris's 8th stomach in her 8th month of pregnancy. What's worse is that 95% of the world isn't acclimated to seeing something online and assuming it's deep faked by default either. If the next model paradigm shift for GenAI happens in 18 or 24 months from now or if some shitshow big enough is caused by current models refined after another OOM more of improvement from 95% to 99.5%, people will be demanding this exact tech world wide be solved yesterday.
