Simple?

I do not want life to be easy, per se, I want it to be simple.

I no longer wish to be concerned with things so silly as safety and emissions inspections, wars in foreign nations, taxes, whatever idiot currently occupies the whitehouse and thinks he lords over me, etc.

I want life to be simple.

I do not think this is so much to ask, do you?

Why Can't Things Be

  • Who don't take the newspaper, watch the news on TV, or read it on the internet. They don't care about what goes on outside their immediate community. You could follow the same course.
  • You really want "The Simple Life?" I'd never have guessed you're a Paris Hilton fan. Shocked. Absolutely shocked, I say.

    Me, I think at least 1 network would pick it up for a pilot ... - even if it's just for the maniacal car chase scenes where bag-haired cell-phone-talking SUV-driving soccer moms get rammed off the road and fried to a crisp in the burning wreckage.

  • Life is not simple. If it was, it wouldn't ever be any fun. Challenges and obstacles are just puzzles to be solved, so we can move on to the next board and solve harder ones. If life was simple, I think you'd find that very unsatisfying.

    On a more metaphysical level, I don't think we're here for anything to be simple. And I think anybody who tried to tell you that life is supposed to be simple is selling something. A "sure thing" is just another term for "sucker bet".
