Coming from a admitted 'Windoze' user who's torn out a good deal of her hair trying to understand Linux, those bits of technical knowledge make _all_ the difference.
So no, you're not a freak, you're just a little uninformed about the depth of the knowledge of the general Windows user. We're not all idiots, but we're missing a few critical details. :)
(Oh, btw, I did try installing Red Hat (5.3) a while back. If it wasn't for their manual, I would be still be in the middle of it, hopelessly lost.)
