I think with the way the population is handling this "pandemic" you are giving them too much credit at 10%. Sounds like China was working on their own interpretation of "flatten the curve" by squeezing it to one side. If it was truly psychological warfare it has been INCREDIBLY effective and FAR more dangerous than any weapon thus far. If this was intentional they didn't work alone, our own media machines churned out headline after headline of scare tactics reporting with incredible frequency on every single death. I don't recall headlines every time someone died in a car accident which was about 3,400 times a day globally and no bias on age or existing conditions.
Considering the actual impact of the virus itself in comparison:
World Confirmed: 0.033 %
World Deaths: 0.0023 %
US Confirmed: 0.25 %
US Deaths: 0.014 %
Those numbers are insignificant... especially compared to the percentage of the population impacted by the fear mongering media frenzy which is pretty close to the entire world population at this point. ( yes I know those numbers are not accurate which to me is even more telling because the more wide spread the virus is the lower the actual death rate is as the death rate is somewhat more accurate. In reality it is likely more inflated as I have read reports that people are being counted without confirmation. )
Also worth noting the numbers for Sweden are not much different with a much more lax and sustainable approach. The curves all peaked around the same time and the outlook for Sweden thus far seems far more positive. The best response would have been to protect the tiny segment of the population that is susceptible rather than trying to shelter in place the world.
