Ubuntu going from HIG to wyoGuide? Wouldn't that be a *big* step back? Why replace one set of guidelines with another, inferior, set of guidelines?

What HIG do you mean? Mac OSX? KDE? Gnome HIG or anything else? You're not giving any clues why you think it's a step back so what worth is your comment?
