Comment Re:They're not wrong. Facebook radicalizes its use (Score 1) 91

I agree with everything you say. If FB literally turned into a smoking crater tomorrow, I'd dance like a Viking in the ashes.

What I can't figure out is how the government being involved would help. Other than making FB follow its own policies, or allow people to sue them for damages when it can be shown that they caused harm.

Look at what the GOP is trying to do now - legislation to force FB and others to continue to spread proven lies.

I agree with you 100% - I just don't see any way for the govt to do any good here, that can't be abused in the Fascist Future.

"scientists will be able to use modern mass spectrometry technology": I used mass spectrometry in an undergrad organic chemistry class in 1970. What is modern about this? I'm not saying no improvements might have happened, but the article (yes, I did look at the original) doesn't say why the mass spectrometer NASA is using is better than ones back then.

The new one uses blockchain.

Lucky you. There are still a bunch of scared ignorant hillbillies who won't get vaccinated here. I sincerely hope that this Delta version hits them, and that the hospital bills financially ruin them and their families.

Anti-vaxxers are predominantly liberals, so I don't know where you get that from. Southern California is the hotspot for idiots getting Measles, anyways. All my knuckle dragging red state republican family and friends have all had their shots. I got mine even though I already caught and recovered from The Wuflu Chinavirus (despite wearing a mask for 18 months).

* Nearly half of unvaccinated respondents were Republicans (49% versus 29% Democrats), as opposed to 31% of vaccinated respondents who identified as Republicans and 59% Democrats.

* There were also discrepancies between unvaccinated respondents who said they would “definitely not” get the vaccine and those who just plan to “wait and see”: The “definitely not” group is overwhelmingly more white (70% of respondents), Republican (67%) and concentrated in the 30-49 age group (48%).
