Firefox is the better browser for privacy, ability to disable features like Ai and disk cacheing to improve it's day to day browsing speed.

Ubuntu can run perfectly fine on 4gb of memory but when it comes to using apps like web browsers you will be glad to have 6gb or more when opening numerous tabs... Other flavours like Xubuntu or Kubuntu both run a lot lighter with 4gb being quite useable mind you.

I think at this point I would rather see the Mozilla CEO step down and someone who actually listens to their users step into place that doesnt require a multi-million salary to get the job done. Many Microsoft users are leaving the sinking ship that is Windows 11 because of AI, cant you see ?!?

I refuse to use snaps because of the simple fact that the backend is still propriatary, and would much rather use an official deb release even if it's a few versions behind with flatpak as a close second incase it's required.

I do this already with my home desktop for the performance gains by adding mitigations=off to grub, also using deb packages instead of snap gives a nice boost too.

Seems that Microsoft in their infinite wisdom (or lack thereoff) has blocked chrome.exe to force the use of their own Edge browser, a simple fix is renaming chrome.exe to chrome1.exe and it works fine.

Firefox is in no way done, it's a browser I enjoy using that gives me control over what websites see and do on my system. As for Pocket, I never actually used it and there's nothing a well written add-on cannot accomplish that was removed to keep the browser streamlined.

Whatever happened to planting trees in local areas not only to provide shade and cool the air, but absorb pollution and help in that area as well ?!

It has been known for some time that Microsoft doesn't care about it's user base, using any excuse to force them into buying newer systems that really aren't needed to run Windows at all apart from the built-in list of incompatibilities. At this point sticking to Windows 10 and bullet-proofing the system, or moving to a good Linux distribution would be the best option, rather than giving in to their ever increasing demands and abanoning your old hardware for a newer and shittier Windows 11 setup.

How about making a browser that works well and displays websites perfectly and leaving the ai and ad-handling to add-on's?

How about the BBC standing on their own two feet for a change and moving to a subscription model for people who actually want to watch their drivel, and not forcing the entire populate to fund their nonsense.

The fact that someone was actually paid for that absolute mess of a logo is disappointing, waste of funds.
