getting around this system would be simple if "all one has to do is walk into a classroom with a RFID-enabled card in their pocket wrapped in aluminum foil.

FTFY. Even if it wasn't used for tracking I would keep any RFID-enabled cards it in a foil-lined wallet, if I didn't nuke it to begin with.

Cut to outside, where we see the poor woman flying off into space, against a background of phaser banks firing like mad, all in complete silence.

Except that that is the only scene in space that is silent in the entire movie. All of the other space battle scenes and that scene save those five seconds have explosions/phasers/missiles going non-stop.

Another thing that got me was how small they made space seem. All of the federation ships are within a few lengths of each other and missiles from Nero's ship take five or ten seconds to go between ships. But then it takes 12 minutes for the Kelvin to reach Nero's ship.

Why look at my finger when I can buy a $200 gadget that shows me a simulated finger when I touch the back. And sure I might want to look at my but why carry around a piece of glass when aforementioned tech' is available.

Sorry it's just such an easy target. Why have transparency when you can have simulated transparency?

The thing is somewhere along the way, even if there wasn't a copy on his hard disk, there was still a copy of in his RAM/cache/video memory which is covered by copyright law. I'm not quite sure how this works but if only part of the movie was on his computer at one time you might be able to argue that it was Fair Use.
