The cloud doesnâ(TM)t magically make your systems secure, you still have to do security in the cloud. The cloud is itâ(TM)s just in someone elseâ(TM)s computer. There is a reason why all the major security vendors have cloud versions of their security controls. If you spin up a vm in the cloud and toss it on the internet your just as vulnerable in the cloud as you were on prem... maybe even more so since devs are spinning these things up without any security controls in place at all and throwing them on the public internet.

I currently live in Montana and not much has changed in the past 5 years. I have cable internet at home and they are horribly oversold. I get a fraction of the advertised speed. Qwest DSL is even slower. The options for connectivity have not changed at all at any of my branch locations throughout Montana. I have a feeling they just pocketed the cash and perhaps updated some equipment in 1-2 COs somewhere in Montana.

I was also a little irritated by the handling of "The Ancients" They sent the ship out without anyone on it why the hell would the life support systems be on? They were smart enough to send the ship out unmanned and deploy stargates ahead of the ship but they left the life support systems on the whole time. This same stuff bugged me back when Atlantis came out and I was thinking cool they found the main city of the ancients its ZPMs are low on power well they should be able to create more ZPMs. Nope. Your telling me these tiny research labs in caves have ZPMs but the main city of the ancients doesn't have some type of ZPM factory in it? However I will continue to watch it because I am a huge stargate fan!

Feed Science Daily: Planet Orbiting A Giant Red Star Discovered With Hobby-Eberly Telescope (sciencedaily.com)

A planet orbiting a giant red star has been discovered by an astronomy team led by Penn State's Alex Wolszczan, who in 1992 discovered the first planets ever found outside our solar system. The new discovery is helping astronomers to understand what will happen to the planets in our solar system when our sun becomes a red-giant star, expanding so much that its surface will reach as far as Earth's orbit.

Submission + - The Hundred Million Mile Pipe Organ

jd writes: "Scientists have announced that the gigantic coils of plasma, known as coronal loops, actually carry soundwaves much like a pipe organ. Micro-flares on the surface of the sun create a powerful blast of charged particles, which are then guided through the coronal loops, creating the standing waves. Sheffield University is hosting movies and audio recordings of the sun's performance."
