Comment Blame patents. Not Google. (Score 1) 361

The problem is not with Android or Google. Microsoft has patented certain actions for this device class. If you ship Android without support for those actions, then you are safe. But those features are essential to the normal functioning of the product in it's target markets. Google cannot do anything about it! [ I am seriously thinking if I should patent my farting style. Will need to document the angle, length of time, sound level, temperature and aromatic properties. May be I should contact the lawyer from NY who is trying to register the BITCOIN trademark, eh?]

It is perfectly legal to start your own toilet cleaner brand called Coca Cola if Coca Cola is not registered under the toilet cleaners category and your trademark logo does not 'resemble' theirs. There is a paper towel brand by the name of Microsoft in Singapore. As far as Bitcoin is concerned, if the lawyer is looking to register a trademark in the same category as the Bitcoin from Bitcoin.org would fall into, he's already lost the claim even if Bitcoin.org morons didn't register or file an intent to use. The whole patent/copyright hand wringing and mud slinging that is going on has reached a feverish pitch. Journos, lawyers, legislators and businessmen have all sold out. Isn't mob justice imminent? Submission + - IETF mulls IPv6 for home networking (networkworld.com)

alphadogg writes: The Internet Engineering Task Force is considering establishing a working group to smooth some of the impending issues around setting up and maintaining IPv6-based Internet connections into homes. "A collection of protocols needs to be agreed upon, so vendors of equipment used in home networks will have an interoperable suite of protocols available," said Ralph Droms, a distinguished engineer for Cisco and among those who want to form the IETF working group. Home networking is a fairly new area for the IETF. Many of its standards were designed for large-scale organizational networks, rather than home use.
