If 0.3 ppm of ozone can block significant amount UV radiation, why is it hard to believe that 400 ppm of CO2 can block some IR ?

If 5'1" tall Mary can bake an apple pie, why is it hard to believe that 6'2" Susan can bake a cherry pie? Oops, sorry... I'm talking about two different things, just like you were.

Other gases, such as O2 and N2 also absorb ultraviolet light (at different wavelengths... in other words, these UV blocking gases work together). But since you are fixating on a single IR blocking molecule like CO2 as the reason for climate change, it only makes sense to me that you would fixate on a single UV blocking gas like ozone. That's the whole problem with this global warming nonsense... the complexity of the dynamic planet we call Earth is reduced to "we humans are the cause of everything happening on the planet". That's naive.

If we stop burning fossil fuels and otherwise clean up our shit, the worst that can happen is we're all 'slightly inconvenienced', comparatively speaking.

The reason you are able to post this is because of the very fuels you deride. No affordable and dense fuel sources, no electricity. No electricity, no Internet. No Slashdot.

If we go with your whole list of 'assumptions' about things and you're wrong, then we're all completely fucked.

And if we go with your proposed solutions, we are all completely fucked. I refuse to throw out energy solutions that work because of an asinine cult-like belief in the end of the world due to a trace gas. I recommend you do the same, naive son.

Greta is not a "messenger". She may be your Messiah, in your climate cult, but I live in reality and will not drink this Kool-Aid.

Nice how you say "...pumping a lot of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere...". Gee, that sounds really scary. Like pumping poison into an enclosed room with a lot of people in it. Give me a break. CO2 is not dangerous, nor is it an effective greenhouse gas. It is not even remotely plentiful.

Let all the gases in Earth's atmosphere be represented by 100 USD. I will give you an amount out of that $100 equal to the amount represented by CO2. Is it $40? Is it $20? Is it $10?

The answer is: 4 US pennies. Four pennies out of $100.00. In other words, $0.04 And that is what all this angst and fuss is about. Give me a break.

This climate cult has gone on long enough. Pretending that we are not part of the Earth and therefore not part of a natural cycle is absurd. Who is to say the CO2 emitted by us won't be beneficial, or recycled back into the Earth somehow? This climate hysteria needs to stop; it is ridiculous.

Do you realize how much all of this sounds like the Catholic Church in medieval times? Don't believe in Christ? Are you a "denier" of Christ? We will burn you at the stake for your heresy. Don't believe all of these Catholic priests that tell you there is a Christ? Shame on you for your ignorance.

P.S. Anyone resorting to the slur word "denier" has already lost any argument or debate about climate. There is no debate at that point, only a religious fervor on one side.

Some of us enjoy the daily climate scaremongering here on Slashdot. I find doom porn very entertaining. Especially amusing is that carbon dioxide is a really scarce gas; so small in fact that if 100 USD represented all the gases in Earth's atmosphere, then the amount of CO2 would be represented by four US pennies. And that's what all the fuss is about.

The us have, for some reason decided that space is "their" thing and that they must keep other people away from it.

Congratulations, pew-pew guy.

Says the commentator who wants "socialized" space. And it's not like the US wants ALL space... just the free market space around the Earth. You act like the US is going to build a Death Star and hire Dick Cheney to run it. That might happen, but there would be rules and Darth Cheney would be expected to follow them, or face disciplinary actions like "no more blue jeans on Fridays for you, My Master".
