Comment Not sure if its the long term answer! (Score -1) 95

We don't really understand the effects of cooling earth Crust & Magma.
It could mess earth magnetic field in the long run with catastrophic consequences.
With abundance of Sun & Wind plus battery technology and fusion in the horizon.
We shouldn't get so much excited, like it was with fossil fuels in the last century.

Comment Microsoft had time to make windows instintive (Score 1) 966

As an evolution from DOS
Windows has been around enough to make its architecture feel instinctive.
Its organized and works well enough.

Linux its a kitchen with too many chefs.
If you stick with Debian, It tends to be organized, almost professional.
but, the fractionality of it, its a pain.
I love the simplicity of Linux and use it for specific tasks,
but general computing, Windows is the boss.
I cant visualize someone using Linux without a technological degree, at least.

Comment Coast Desalination/Valley Better Irrigation. (Score 1) 417

Nanotechnology membranes dropped the power consumption to 3kWh/m3,
with kWh averaging 15 cents....
That isn't a bad solution at all
If you consider,
that on Disneyland you will pay US$5.00 per half litter......

If the coast cities do desalt,
much more water will be available to the valleys (farmers)
with better irrigation tech. (almost nonexistent in the valleys, where plantation techniques still last century, to say the least)
We could manage the the drought.

But, if you add the politicians.......
Forget....
It won happen!
