Here's my thinking. I buy a new game. I play it until I'm done. Then I sell it. What might I do with that $10 I just made? Maybe put it towards the next game I'm going to buy. I have no numbers to back this up but I suspect the used game market helps the new game market.

I disagree that "it's been done before" is a reason not to watch a series. Every story has been done before. A totally new story (if it exists) would be unrelateable. It's all in how it's executed. Much of making good TV has to do with pacing, editing, lighting, etc. Great writing can be ruined and mediocre writing can be elevated. It was the human drama that made BSG great and theoretically could have for Caprica. It wasn't there yet but I was intrigued. Oh well. Here's hoping Game of Thrones has a long, great run.

As a protestant I'm sad to say that in general the Catholic view on this is much more reasonable than ours.

"Old earth" is considered orthodox but it's definitely a minority view. Evolution is sadly still verboten among my peeps. (I'm not sure how much the Catholics have warmed to that idea.)

A subsequent poster says that the Catholics are only doing this because "it has been attacked on these issues in the past." Maybe so (I doubt it), but a) that's called growth and learning which is usually a good thing and b) as I stated in the beginning I wish protestant leaders could get to that point. So go Catholics!
