Comment Major Audit Time? (Score 1) 512

Maybe this is the time for a group of kernel developers to go over the code looking carefully for those long standing bugs and more important look for security problems. Do what OpenBSD did back during the 2.0-2.1 release. Even if it takes much longer (6months - 1 year) to make a new release wouldn't that be for the better. If that time period is too long then at least start to do the major audits and start putting them in on a 4 week release cycle. Granted a complete audit will probably take one or two years.

The security and stability of the Linux kernel could be greatly increased. Isn't that what we all want?
