Submission + - PHP End of Life is Today, November 26, 2023 (sysadminafterdark.com)

sysadminafterdark writes: Released on November 26, 2020, PHP 8 brought many optimizations and powerful features to the language.Fast forward to today, PHP 8 is getting the boot in favor of 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 with 8.4 in development. This leaves many websites at risk of breaking and potential security issues. Hearing of this news, I upgraded my own blog and wrote an article on how to add remi repo and update. I run Enterprise Linux (The best distro out there) so if you are standing up new boxes, just keep in mind the PHP in the repo is deprecated.

Jellyfin does the whole DRV thing as well: https://jellyfin.org/docs/gene.... I cannot comment how good it is, or even if the features have a 1:1 parody, but in light of Plex seemingly phoning home, some admins may opt for a fully open source solution. It takes around 15 minutes to spin up a docker container. Might give it a try in the coming days to 1v1 it with Plex.

I apologize in advance for my strong opinion but what. the. hell. Who on earth thought this was a good idea? Why would an employee want to spend $99 dollars to stay at a hotel to "ease transition"? There's a snowball's chance in hell I'm going to pay my employer ANYTHING. It seems in the 90's everyone was bright eyed and bushy tailed on what computers and the internet could do for humanity and what that meant for an individual's work and home life. Well, we're here and it seems those ideas have come and gone. God damn internet company doesn't want people to work from the internet...can you believe it?
