Comment I wish I could use Adblocker on tv and magazines. (Score 1) 1470
I use both Firefox's Adblocker and Norton Internet Security. These are very effective together to the point that I am often surprised when I visit familiar sites from other computers and see all the ads that are usually left out on mine.
I use these things because I feel I'm responsibile enough to research products that I want to buy and I don't need corporations screaming at me (in the literal and figurative senses) all day long. When I read magazines, I find myself placing my hands over the most prominent and annoying ads on the page. And if my wife woud let me, I'd put duct tape over the lower quarter of my TV screen so these companies couldn't advertise to me as I'm watching a show.
But that's what I like about the internet. We, the users, have more control. I can choose to ads on websites if I want, just as I can choose to peruse my junk email folder if I want. I don't hate advertising altogether, I just hate being advertised at all day, every day.
