mask.of.sanity writes: Attackers have begun exploiting a major Android vulnerability that allows them to take over a victim's phone without altering the digital signature of a targeted app. The attacks targeted Chinese-speaking Android users and exploited the master key flaw found by researchers earlier this month that affected most Android phones released in the last four years.

Festo's Drone Dragonfly Takes To the Air 45

yyzmcleod writes "Building on the work of last year's bionic creation, the Smart Bird, Festo announced that it will literally launch its latest creation, the BionicOpter, at Hannover Messe in April. With a wingspan of 63 cm and weighing in at 175 grams, the robotic dragonfly mimics all forms of flight as its natural counterpart, including hover, glide and maneuvering in all directions. This is made possible, the company says, by the BionicOpter's ability to move each of its four wings independently, as well as control their amplitude, frequency and angle of attack. Including its actuated head and body, the robot exhibits 13 degrees of freedom, which allows it to rapidly accelerate, decelerate, turn and fly backwards."

US Court Tells Microsoft To Stop Selling Word 403

oranghutan writes "A judge in a Texas court has given Microsoft 60 days to comply with an order to stop selling Word products in their existing state as the result of a patent infringement suit filed by i4i. According to the injunction, Microsoft is forbidden from selling Word products that let people create XML documents, which both the 2003 and 2007 versions let you do. Michael Cherry, an analyst quoted in the article, said, 'It's going to take a long time for this kind of thing to get sorted out.' Few believe the injunction will actually stop Word from being sold because there are ways of working around it. In early 2009, a jury in the Texas court ordered Microsoft to pay i4i $200 million for infringing on the patent. ZDNet has a look at the patent itself, saying it 'sounds a bit generic.'"

Comment Thank you all (Score 1) 36

Hello friends Thank you all for your responses. I have looked into your suggestions. As for HDF5, I agree that would be a good one, but due to some other constraints, I had to choose MPI. Now, the question is, If I can't get a portable MPI I/O implementation, what can I do to make it portable. The software I am working upon, can do it by storing the macine information in the file and then having its own converter [for serial I/O ]. I wanted to avoid all that task and was relying on MPI interface to do the job. [ That is why the external32 representation. ] I am sorry if I am posting it too late, coz I get access to net only from my office.
