Serious time
Eyes wide open: Take a long gaze into this face. It haunts me.
It looks like an impressionist painting........

How does it make you feel? Where do your thoughts turn?
My thoughts go from happiness... and then a mix of sadness and anger, because I think... How could they...?
If a mother is pro-choice, I want her to look her baby in the eye... She can do that now.
I would like to say to her: Woman, stare at your baby's face! Tell your son or daughter the "choice" you have made.
Have you chosen to kill your own flesh and blood?
If your rallying cry against aggression and violence is "Give peace a chance!" now would be a good time to apply that belief.
Will you create war in your womb?
If you believe it is good to "Make love, not war!" now would be a good time to act on that principle. Your precious child needs your LOVE.
For what grievance do you seek vengeance against this child that you have brought to life?
If you believe it is good to "Stop the violence! Stop the killing!"
For what crime do you sentence your child to death?
If you believe it is good to "Ban the death penalty!" you should take this opportunity to refrain from invoking it on your baby.
Isn't your own child more dear to you than just any child?
If you believe in doing good deeds "for the children," you can do something now. Let them live!
Have you considered that you were once just like the female fetus you're carrying now? And that that fetus will grow up to be a lively, liberated (from the uterus; able to make choices) woman like yourself?
If you believe it is good to "promote women's rights" (the foremost right being life, of course), how about starting with the rights of your own daughter?
During the times of slavery and Jim Crow laws in the U.S., the free people with conscience had to defend the rights of those who couldn't legally fight for their rights themselves.
If you count yourself among those who care about the welfare of the powerless and needy and believe that you must "speak up for those who cannot not speak for themselves," now would be a time to do so. A fetus can do a lot of things, but she can't speak for herself. She can't defend her rights. Nature and nature's God has appointed you, her mother, to be her advocate and guardian in this world.
If you believe it is the right thing to "stand up for the little guy" (or little girl), do it! Help the little one inside you. There is no person more vulnerable than he.
If you think we ought to ban the use of weapons, don't pay someone to use them against your baby.
You've seen the pictures and read the science. It's been reported in the media for months now. The fetus is human. It's alive. Why do you persist with this facade of "women's rights"? Inspect your heart. What's the real reason for abortion?
If you count yourself among those who claim to care about the welfare of all people and thus oppose Special (selfish, inconsiderate) Interests, you should resist the temptation to succumb to your selfish, special interests.
Or did you really mean any of those slogans?

Then fast forward to the doctors office, where I watched this ultrasound at 8 weeks [schube.com] of the little guy that would become an even cuter little guy [schube.com] and my perspective totally changed. In the ultrasound (I apologize for the low quality, it's a digital camcorder video of a VHS tape playing on a TV. My Dazzle fried) you can see him turn his head, and his heart is just beating away. The next week's ultrasound, week 9, he was kicking and jumping around. So much so, that I asked the doctor, "Is he ok?" The doctor and my wife laughed at me and said, "Yep, he's fine. Just really active."
Good entry and thanks for sharing. Now I couldn't bear the thought of terminating, no matter the circumstances. Getting closer in my religious beliefs I've also learned certain Bible passages that make it even more clear that we are not intended to make the "the choice" for him or her in the womb. Unfortunately, this is such a sensitive subject that creates a great deal of hate, from both sides.
3d Ultra Sound (Score:2)
There's a place that will do 3d ultrasound movies close by. My wife and I are tempted to go have it done. We've already had one 3d ultrasound done just because we asked our Doctor nicely, and its amazing how cute the kid already is.
