Journal superyooser's Journal: Hello, world! – Part 1: Look at me! 2

Here's a neat story that tells about what a fetus is doing all that time in the womb. Looks like the little rugrats are pretty active and normal babies... except they aren't born yet.

Images have shown:

  • From 12 weeks, unborn babies can stretch, kick and leap around the womb - well before the mother can feel movement
  • From 18 weeks, they can open their eyes although most doctors thought eyelids were fused until 26 weeks
  • From 26 weeks, they appear to exhibit a whole range of typical baby behaviour and moods, including scratching, smiling, crying, hiccoughing, and sucking.

Until recently it was thought that smiling did not start until six weeks after birth.

See the slideshow: Watch Me Grow. I made some of my own captions below.

Smile/smirk: "mmm, nice n' warm." (see BBC caption)

Sleepy time: yawwwwwn

Covering eyes: "No pictures please! Who let the paparazzi in here?"

Traveling time: Baby looks like he's driving a low-rider.

Itchy, scratchy time: Baby scratches an itch.

Silly time: "mnummy, toes are good." :o)
BBC caption: "... This baby started out sucking his smallest toes and gradually moves on to suck a bigger and better toe." Yes, the big toe is always the best one. hee hee

  • Sean Hannity had a bunch highschool graduates who were going on to college on his radio show about a week ago. They were all lefties. Anyway, as the show went on he asked how they felt about Abortion. They were all pro choice, so he questioned one girl about it. She said up until the 20-something'th week it can be aborted, but after that it couldn't. As if there was some magical all of a sudden baaam, it's alive. It can be killed up to that day, but after that its a person. Really a rediculous concep
    • I agree. I also consider it rediculous when people say they are against abortion except in cases such as rape and incest. WTF? Why punish the child for the sins of its father? That is the position that makes the least sense to me. An unborn child is either a person with rights or it is not, the circumstances of its conception have nothing to do with it.
