I personally thing a color or logo change would be a drastic failure. There are only a handful of companies/organizations that have been able to successfully change their logo or color scheme. Most who try end up losing quite a bit of business (or readers) in this case. I 100% believe the color scheme should remain close, as well as the slashdot logo/font. Therefore Peter Lada's design is my favorite so far (excpet the logo change). I think this contest should be one to just clean up the design. Anything that is a drastic change will turn a lot of people away.
