Yeah, A.I. is fine when it's used as a tool. Heck, we all used to use calculators in school even when doing Calculus. It wasn't doing the Calculus for us, just simple calculations. Even now, I'm a sysadmin who used to do a lot of programming but not really any more. But I still do some scripting and A.I. has saved me a lot of hours on things that honestly are pretty simple but just not things that I do on a daily basis any more. So I come up with a framework and ask A.I. to help with syntax or the specific function I need to perform a task. And it would be different if I was doing it for a class. I'd expect to do a lot more, if not all, of the work myself. But as a tool for work product? More than fine.

Can't believe this is even a story. Of course it doesn't matter. There are differences between what the Professor is complaining about and using A.I. to help write her opinion piece: 1) It's a completely different subject area. She's a math teacher, not an English teacher. But even an English teacher might use A.I. to assist in writing an opinion piece that has nothing to do with his/her academic life. 2) It wasn't coursework. If she was doing it in an English CLASS maybe there would be a point. 3) She was writing an opinion piece for wide distribution. It makes sense to get some assistance in doing so, and/or helping do the research to support the piece. That's exactly the type of thing A.I. is actually useful for.

My current job was found via LinkedIn. For the most part I'm not a fan, especially given my hatred for anything Microsoft. I had quit my previous job and wasn't even sure I was going to continue working but thanks to a new law where I live that requires job listings to list the salary range, I saw a job closer to home with a nice salary bump that was what I really wanted to do if I continued working so I applied. And it turned out I was a perfect fit for the job. So yeah you can find legit jobs via LinkedIn. Doesn't make this extension scanning any less shady though.
