Mozilla: Unlike FB and Twitter Single Sign-in, Persona Protects User Privacy 81

tsamsoniw writes "Mozilla today unveiled Persona Beta 2, the newest edition of the organization's open authentication system. The release includes Identity Bridging, which lets user sign in to Persona-supported sites using their existing webmail accounts, starting with Yahoo. Mozilla used the release as an opportunity to bash social sign-in offerings from Facebook and Twitter, which 'conflate the act of signing into a website with sharing access to your social network, and often granting the site permission to publish on your behalf,' said Lloyd Hilaiel, technical lead for Mozilla Persona. He added that they are built in such a way that social providers have full visibility into a user's browsing behavior."

Google is your friend, as usual. It's basically a system to monitor and control an industrial site/process remotely (power plant, utilities, etc..).

Hmm, that argument doesn't hold very far IMO.. they could save a lot more money by just withdrawing the lawsuit altogether versus what they are going to lose from this action.

theodp writes "A Bloomberg report that Apple CEO Steve Jobs proposed a possibly illegal truce with Palm against poaching their respective employees is sure to pique the interest of the US Department of Justice, which already is investigating whether Google, Yahoo, Apple, Genentech and other tech companies conspired to keep others from stealing their top talent. 'Your proposal that we agree that neither company will hire the other's employees, regardless of the individual's desires, is not only wrong, it is likely illegal,' former Palm CEO Ed Colligan reportedly told Jobs in August 2007." The article notes that Apple was probably reacting to Palm's hiring of Jon Rubenstein, who had been instrumental in developing the iPod and went on to spearhead the Pre for Palm (and has now become Palm's chairman and CEO). "It's the story about the importance of charismatic engineers," said veteran Silicon Valley forecaster Paul Saffo. "People don't work for Palm. They work for Jon Rubinstein. One has to wonder how Steve Jobs ever let Jon Rubinstein leave."

Hmm, tax payers already paid for it, no? I know that you can get topographical data from several government agencies already for free (NASA, USGS, etc...)

Well, even if we can't reverse the process, there are other good reasons to lower our energy consumption.

Energy isn't free; by polluting less, you often spend less in the long run... It's not only good for the planet, it's good for the economy in general.

Both shouldn't be seen as incompatible things.
