Long-term capital investment is needed for any company to grow and realize consistent ROI as profits. The amount of capital and time it will be tied up in Mars exploration before showing a profit is likely to be huge disincentive from making such a commitment.

If a copyright is purchased in the US, the subject is still copyrighted, de facto and de jure, because the COPYRIGHT was purchased. Since the item is still under copyright, it is NOT considered to be in the public domain. Those are two mutually exclusive terms. The purchaser obtains full rights to any and all uses of the copyrighted item and the seller relinquishes all rights in exchange for the purchase price. Is it that different in Australia?

Base pay ranges and salary caps are guaranteed ways to drive the most talented people away from a company. "I can only make $350,00/year?" OK, goodbye, (as I accept a job offering $420,000/year). I can't get a pay increase despite my stellar performance rating because I'm already at the top of my pay range? Let me know how that works out for you, long term, I'm going over here to work for a company that rewards actual performance.

Internal combustion engines have been around for, what? Over 100 years? Current materials science and understanding of the physics behind IC engines is at peak maturity. Why aren't there three, maybe four, gasoline-powered IC engines maximized for efficiency and power output standardized across all automobile platforms and perhaps the same for most diesel engines? Why must each manufacturer keep developing "new" engines?

I don't want another device that requires updates, I don't care how integrated it is with my other devices. Nor do I want to tether my car to my phone, let alone pay for another wireless data plan just for my car. Give me a vehicle with a decent touch screen, a dock for my phone, and have the touch screen be my phone's screen while it's docked Throw in OBDC connectivity for real time performance and fault code monitoring while they're at it.
