Comment I hated the old version (Score 1) 201

Even though I had read the book, the movie was still hard to follow, and focused on the weirdness rather than the plot. The Eon music has been referenced, but I also like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?... I use it in my English 1301 classes as an example of allusion. When I quote "Walk without rhythm, and you won't attract the worm," the students are understandably confused. I then tell them what that verse is alluding to.

If you look at the other ads, they include traffic signs: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news... A red triangle is a traffic sign: http://www.trafficsign.us/sign... The media has told everyone that it's an attack on antifa, and everyone decided the media must be right. My first impression was traffic signs due to the other ads. "Honi soit qui mal y pense." Another quote apocryphally attributed to Freud seems appropriate: "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

I'm an English instructor at a local college. I announce at the beginning of each class that it's time to put cell phones away, yet there are still several each day who are too addicted to put them away. It is very distracting when one goes off (or even vibrates loudly) during class. I've had to kick out some multiple-time offenders. One who refused to leave was escorted out by campus security. Why am I so adamant about it? I'd rather not talk to a roomful of phones.

Thalidomide was studied for 3 years by German scientists, including animal testing. Ooops, the effect on developing fetuses was overlooked, with disastrous results. Also remember that during the 1970's, some were proposing sprinkling coal on the polar ice caps because they feared a new ice age was coming. Hubris can be very dangerous.
