You're not alone. I got tired of the same issues and have the same setup in place now. I couldn't be happier! I get what I want, when I want, for a price I'm willing to pay all with ultimate hardware control. Win7 does a nice job with time shifting and interface interaction...

I occasionally take spouse aggro when things need tweaking, but still when I show her the lack of a cable/satellite bill the effect is nullified.

If this is a corporate deal, there is NO WAY they are going to say anything else than what HR tells them to. Just as long as you pass the screening and drug tests, you pass on your own merits. Since you have the new job in the bag, you already have nothing to worry about. If you haven't cleared the checks, then yes you should keep your nose clean until you have the offer in writing.

Can anyone explain how this applies to home users? Just password protect your router to not share your wireless and you should be fine... go read the bill. If you disagree with that approach, please correct my thinking: I assert data is not like the water company. Data is not ubiquitous, uniform or equally valuable. To summarize my point, If you have to keep your receipts for 10 years for the IRS, 2 years doesn't seem that bad to an average joe.

This was the largest turnout in history since 1906 (on a percentage basis I heard?) of registered voters. I don't think that government has really changed here. But, the outcome reflects that we changed!
 
The one thing that our representatives expect is that we'll go home and expect them to work out the details. Let's remember they are supposed to represent us, meaning make sure your voice is heard.

I agree with the "Put down the Kool-Aid" comment. Some of the most radical growth in spending has been during the last 4. I point out here the legislators in the majority during that time period have not been the "Republicans". Ok, you can mod me as a troll if you like, and please read on if you like, maybe that will mean more people will read... An olive branch here - I think we're all losing here. I think we've been duped into thinking that we need either party. I don't support libertarians/etc. I just think that we've been brainwashed into fearing the last 8 years, or someones 'associations'. Bottomline, I don't like Mc-Pain's grinning or smirking. It makes me think he's a know-it-all. I don't like the Senator from Illinois' track record, either. There are none without cause to doubt their motives in this scenario. I'm for change. I just don't think that's in the fine print right now.

I agree in that they are our choices. I don't agree that they are reasonable. Our process has turned into a 'beauty pageant' of sorts. The the wide distribution of information now-adays, it seems that the meaning behind our words is diluted. Perhaps fewer words can convey more meaning.

Can you expand on why you feel that your choice of candidate is trustworthy and therefore deserving of your vote? Is there a way to produce evidence that supports your conclusion? I ask because I too am concerned. I'm concerned that perhaps we're all losers here. I think we've all been duped that we feel like we can really, I mean really trust these folks with the future. I enjoy hearing speeches from the candidate you've chosen. I've been around awhile, heard a lot of promises. That's why I tend to look at past life experiences. I believe that your candidate cares deeply. I'm just not clear on what, exactly. Same goes for most politicians...
