As someone that works in the GNSS industry I have this sort of constant monitoring setup at work. We often see changes to constellation orbits and my lizard brain thinks war is imminent. About a month ago China made big changes to their constellation. They didn't announce it through standard channels initially. We first found out about it because of colleagues in China heard it on the local news. Now it is on their standard government site: http://www.beidou.gov.cn/yw/xw... But it happened quickly without a lot of warning to the industry. My thoughts went to nefarious reasons initially, but I think it is more incompetence or just government disregard for their users.

The report is incorrect in its base claim that the earth's rate of rotation is slowing down even more the usual. In fact the earth's rate of rotation has been speeding up since 2020. I wonder how many of these unreported pools are just kiddy pools that the tenant "installed". AI maybe able to get you a list of candidates, but the final decision to tax someone should have a human in the loop. I've seen examples where a guy holding a lamb in his arms has it identified as a dog because the AI was picking up the context of an animal in someone's arms and typically it IS a dog...but not always...

FYI: Galileo is operational with a full constellation and the best hydrogen maser clocks of any satnav constellation.

I think you describe a Ponzi scheme. When you take money from some people and give it to others as investment returns. Although I agree crypto is not a pyramid scheme either. I think it would fall under a pump-and-dump scheme where you convince people something is worth more than it is and then get out once the price goes up.

Galileo and Beidou are world wide as well and have surpassed GPS in quality. Glonass is also worldwide but lower quality than GPS.

If the US military wants to spoof/jam the GNSS in smartphones they certainly can do it even with the extra constellations and signals. It just takes a little more effort.
