First of all, the actual press release title is "AMIBIOS enables secure and trusted computing with a TCPA-compliant module". The tie-in to Palladium was mistakenly made by Mike @ The Inquirer when he posted the original story several days ago.
Second, you might want to reference the follow ups on The Inquirer, which have AMI's reply (the original article has some major issues).

If you really read the AMI whitepaper, it's an *option* for the system builder to use in their BIOS. So it's still up to the system builder to use this "feature". And there's still no OS or software that uses it.
TCPA is a public spec. It's a difficult read, but available if you want to look into it.
