What exactly do you expect—that buying a few shares on Robinhood should give you meaningful influence over a company? Different share classes exist for a reason. If you buy stock without understanding the share class, the dividend structure—or whether the company even has a dividend policy—and the voting rights attached to those shares, then you should not be surprised when your influence is effectively negligible. At that point, be glad if you receive dividends or benefit from price appreciation. No one owes you control over a company. If you want significant voting power, acquire a meaningful stake, negotiate better rights, or build your own company. No “oligarchy” is stopping you from creating businesses and exercising control over what you build. The economy is not a zero-sum game.

1. Design: EU is a Union (a de-facto federation) created bottom-up by the States themselves. The State governments agreed on the design & structure which they coded in the Treaties. All State Parliaments ratified the treaties. In some States, depending on their State Constitution requirements, public referendums were held. So the EU as a whole was created with the full consent all constituent member States, whose governments were democratically elected

2. Powers (Competencies): Thru the EU treaties, the EU States voluntarily conferred somepowers (competencies) to the Union level government bodies. Not all powers! For example, the Monetary Policy (the Euro) was given by the States to the Union (to ECB). Notable powers that remains with the States are: Fiscal, Welfare, Defence, Education, Healthcare. Some powers are shared, like Foreign Policy. See full list of which powers are at Union level, which are shared, which remains with the States here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

3. Representation: EU States are heavily represented into each of the legislative, executive, judicial and other branches of EU government. Out of 7 major EU government bodies:
* States are directly represented in 2 bodies
* States nominate representatives in 4 bodies
* EU citizens directly elect 1 body
So See this graphical representation here (it's missing the EU Cours of Auditors): https://media.licdn.com/dms/im...
