I've been some variant of a sys admin for at least 11 years. I started on FreeBSD and worked with it for 3 years before I ran XFree86. I suppose it is safe to say I didn't know about it because my orignal boxes had very little resources and I didn't install anything I didn't think I need. Little did I know what I was missing. But its good, because they were production servers. 11 years later I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of what there is to know in the numerous *NIX variants. Most admins, if they have any thread of honesty, probably would keep it to themselves, but admit silently the same is true for themselves. That was a runon sentence in case you hadn't noticed. I've been up all night like half you guys. I joined slashdot just so I could respond to one article that got up my dander. It was the one where they are interviewing us for all of our technical knowledge. I've got some certs that don't expire and had a CCNA that expired around 2005. I've met the gurus, I am not them. B
