Journal Journal: Internet

I'm not that long on the internet compared to some people. I think I got on the Internet in 2001 with a dial up modem. Since a year or two I have broadband internet and it costs me some bugs. About 100 a month. So I'm loosing a lot of money on it.

I do get benifits from it. For instance I hardly watch TV anymore as all the news and information I can get on the Internet.

Also I like websites like www.howstuffworks and wikipidia.

Journal Journal: It has been a long time

It has been a long time since I wrote in my journal. Since then a lot has happend more hasn't happend.

I don't know where to start. But if you are interested in me then check out my blog here. It's more about my interests then me. Don't forget to check out my Programming Guru site.

I don't know what to add but I have a lot of ideas on what to do. I add them regualry to my blog and may add a summary to my slashdot journal.

Journal Journal: This week

This week I quit with the open source project linksos who's goal it was to write a modern OS.

We kinda of failed in doing so. Well not 100% because there were some nice OS designs established that I will be sure to use once I have completed this course. Things like a microkernel with servers running on top of them. It would have had similarities to the GNU/Hurd and Beos kernel's. However pretty much very light weight. An ability was to dynacly enable a server (for instance networking) to run in user or kernel space.

I quit the project because I noticed that no one else was actually doing anything except sign up and never respond emails. Well that not the whole reason it's also because as the design of the OS had been lay-ed out and it was time to start coding no one was doing it. I wanted to do something but I don't have the skills to code an OS. So after some hard thinking I quit. I have done everything in my capabilities in this OS.

Another reason is that lately I just don't have time for such projects. I'm very busy in thinking of setting up my own company. Learning programming and much more.

Well I did learn a lot during the design stage of Linksos. I mean how operating systems work and how cvs and sourceforge works even ssh and using webportals like phpnuke.

Someday I will try and build my own OS,

Journal Journal: Introduction

Hi there,

This is my first Slashdot journal entry.

I'm a computer enthusiast and am learning programming as we speak. At first I was stuck at which language to concentrate on. Assembler or C. After consulting people and friends I decided to learn first C and then assembler to fill in the gaps. What I know so far is that C is not that hard. Actually I don't find it harder then BASIC (which I already know) at all. So why are some many people afraid of it? I think its because BASIC doesn't allow you to screw up your operating system and C does.

I'm a member of several open source projects on source forge like: LinksOS, MSNConf and VBOX. I will add other journal entries to describe them.

I don't expect people to be reading my journal but doing this is part of my way to have eternal live as this journal may be around a lot longer then I may life. But if you are reading this leave me a comment behind.
