Actually there are many drivers out there that will let you read from ext2/ext3 filesystems on windows. I use Ext2fsd to read my linux partitions on my windows machine (dual boot) and it works great. (It would be nice though if there was a cross-platform FS (other then FAT) that would allow rw, without any hick-ups. The newest version of Ext2fsd 0.25 states it has read/write capabilities but I have yet to try it).
