Right Harold J. It takes longer, more (recalcitrant) brain cells are involved, but it's, like, *totally* worth it. "That's why I've always maintained..." Also a good point. A good habit has to be maintained but, like I said, it's so worth the trouble. After all, words are all we have when communicating like this (no facial expressions etc.) so your messages should be concise, to the point and correctly spelled. I am often baffled, when reading forum posts, by mistakes/omissions I guess are the result of simply not proof-reading or previewing. An omitted or misspelled word can render the whole message meaningless. Unclear writing suggests (to me, anyway,) an unclear mind.

National Censorship Plan Offensive, Says Aussie Shadow Minister 116

downundarob writes "Senator Nick Minchin, the Australian Shadow Minister for broadband, communications and the digital economy, has written (or more likely a staffer has written) this interesting article on the Australian Federal Government's continued zeal to enforce ISP-level filtering in Australia. In the article he posits that 'Underlying the Rudd Government's plan to screen the internet is an offensive message: that parents cannot be trusted to mind their children online.' Meanwhile, we wait for filtering trials to start, trials that have been delayed and which have next-to-no support among the industry. Telstra BigPond — Australia's largest ISP — has refused to take part, comparing internet filtering to 'like trying to boil the ocean.' The third largest, iiNet, is prepared to participate to highlight flaws."

Mozilla Labs Wants To Monitor (Volunteers') Firefox Use 118

Howardd21 writes "PC World reports that Mozilla Labs wants 1% of its Firefox users to voluntarily provide information about how they use the browser, and their web browsing habits. This would be done through an add-on named "Test Pilot" that collects the information and associates it with some demographic information that the user has provided. Unlike other data collection utilities that software developers may include to provide usage information, the add-on will follow the same open source concept that Firefox adheres to, allowing the market to better understand what is being collected. Mozilla Labs stresses privacy when discussing how they will collect, store and use the data, including publishing it for other researchers to to analyze."
