I would say that they have to be. He didn't take 7.5 packets from his 1/40th filtered data and multiply by 40 to get 300, did he?

If so, it's pretty stupid of him to not scale the numbers for presentation or at least mention that "Oh yeah, that 300 really means probably about 12,000..."

And not doing the geolocation on all of the data himself - WTF?

The Government has to step up and declare Paypal a bank. Banks can't take or freeze your money simply because they don't like what you do (which Paypal often does) - only the government can do that if you are in breach of laws.

In which case goverments will pass laws allowing them to freeze assets of people they don't like on a whim. e.g. by calling them "terrorists". It's not like Wikileaks hasn't caught several governments with their "pants down".

If you wanna have a stroke or heart attack in your mid thirties then do it... Constant overwork and stress causes burnout, strokes, heart attack, due to constant adrenaline being too high and other things it does to your body.
Sport helps to some degree to lower that again, but it is hard to so sport if you are in a constrant crunch dreadmill.

To be perfectly honest, I find this much more interesting and artistic than a lot of modern "art."

For example, I believe these Blobs of Glass are little more than interesting candy dishes (not $20,000+ works of art).

The black cube satisfies a lot of requirements for great art, in my mind.

1) It's different. I haven't seen anything like this before.
2) It is a one-of-a-kind. The market really can't support more than one of these.
3) It generates interest all by itself. (Any market it creates is all self-generated buzz. Most other art is only successful because of heavy marketing campaigns and artist self promotion).
4) It says something about our current society (There are a lot of ways you can interpret this piece).
5) It is a shared experience.

Compare it to the candy dish blobs. They look a lot like things you can buy at Wallymart. There's thousands of them. The artist is mostly successful because of heavy marketing. There's no real interpretations besides "Wow, psychedelic man!" I'm unsure that anyone discusses the artistic genius of the glass-blobs, so I don't feel they qualify as a shared experience.

Using EMP To Punch Holes In Steel 165

angrytuna writes "The Economist is running a story about a group of researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology in Chemnitz, Germany, who've found a way to use an EMP device to shape and punch holes through steel. The process enjoys advantages over both lasers, which take more time to bore the hole (0.2 vs. 1.4 seconds), and by metal presses, which can leave burrs that must be removed by hand."

Man Sues Neighbor For Not Turning Off His Wi-Fi 428

Scyth3 writes "A man is suing his neighbor for not turning off his cell phone or wireless router. He claims it affects his 'electromagnetic allergies,' and has resorted to being homeless. So, why doesn't he check into a hotel? Because hotels typically have wireless internet for free. I wonder if a tinfoil hat would help his cause?"

This is so typical for Motorola - back in the day when we had to interface their r750+ handsets to Baker consoles, we soon discovered that the handsets would lock up if they were powered/running for 24.5 days straight, thus making them unsuitable as interface devices.

So we substituted i305 handsets - whose out of control audio AGC made them unsuitable as interface devices.

So we got to support the customer by showing up at 2am every two weeks to manually power cycle their sixteen r750+ handsets. Thanks for nothing Moto.
