Comment Give up on that company No Huawei! (Score 1) 183

Lol. Selling my Huawei U8100 smartphone (Wind Mobile). No really. Anybody want it? It's in good shape! $30 in the GTA. I know you all love Android 2.1 and 3G data speeds. Heck, I've actually managed a positive score playing Counter-Strike 1.6 from my PC over 3G service, wireless tether, and server pings of 110ms! It's a beast! It's more powerful than a Pentium 2! Runs 16 bit emulators passably well! Maybe it spies on you, who the heck cares? We all know you only use it as a toy or a 2.1 test bed anyways. Let Chinese intelligence watch in awe as you play the Final Fantasy 1&2 remake for the Gameboy Advance! On turbo speed! Huzzah! Take that, Garland!

Submission + - Yahoo deletes journalists prepaid legacy site after suicide (mashable.com)

digitalFlack writes: Apparently Martin Manly has been a popular blogger and newspaper journalist for many years. For his own reasons, no indication of illness, he decided sixty years on this planet was enough. He designed a 40 page website with titles such as:
"Why Suicide?," "Why Age 60?," "Growing Up," "The Heavens,"
"First Two Loves," "Pictures," "KC Star," "Legal," "911 & Conspiracies" and "COOL STUFF."
Martin planned his suicide meticulously, but to manage his legacy — HE PICKED YAHOO! Even pre-paid for five years... After he left this mortal coil on his 60th birthday, Yahoo decided they don't want his traffic, so they took the site down. Sorry, Martin.

$350 each? $400 for the "Marine" model. Let me guess. That one is a solar powered laptop that is water resistant to 2000m, right? This looks like some sort of elaborate scam... something high quality and innovative for the same price as a Walmart laptop... Hm. And seriously, Intel GMA gfx? Ah well, guess that's one way to save power. Nice web page though. Love the parallax scrolling and the elephant. :P Anyways here's some doubt to chew on: http://www.extremetech.com/computing/163184-sol-the-350-solar-powered-rugged-ubuntu-laptop-that-wont-be-usable-in-the-sun

Submission + - NSA Surveillance Heat Map -- NSA Lied to Congress

anagama writes: NSA officials have repeatedly denied under oath to Congress that even producing an estimate of the number of Americans caught up in its surveillance is impossible. Leaked screenshots of an NSA application that does exactly that, prove that the NSA flat out lied (surprise). Glenn Greenwald continues his relentless attacks with another bombshell this time exposing Boundless Informant. Interestingly, the NSA spies more on America than China according to the heat map. Representative Wyden had sought amendments to FISA reauthorization bill that would have required the NSA to provide information like this (hence the NSA's lies), but Obama and Feinstein demanded a pure reauthorization of FISA, which they got at the end of 2012.
