Believe it or not, people are allowed to give opinions on topics, not just the Government. I know, shocking idea, but individuals matter. I know you guys all think the Government is the ultimate solution to all problems though, so don't forget to pay your taxes. I'm sure it will be put to great use!

IT guys and programmers know very little about what really goes on the real world. Slashdot is evidence of this. Just because you are highly paid for playing with a computer does not make you smart. It does not make you special. It just makes you lucky that your career choice closely aligned with the hottest job market in history. I know all the Google millionaires think they are geniuses but really they are just knowledgeable about a very small subset of the world. And that goes for all the geniuses here on Slashdot: you aren't. You just got lucky. That six figure salary you earn is an aberration of the times. If computers didn't exist you would be sitting in a basement working as an accountant for $50k a year.

The vaccines are not free. They never were. They cost billions of dollars of taxpayer money and now with Pfizer recommending boosters it will continue to cost billions more. For how long? Maybe you need a "booster" every six months. Or year.

You got vaccinated. Be happy. The CDC said if you were vaccinated so you do not need to wear a mask either. So much for that. Masks will be back soon and the Delta hype ramps up.

You guys really need to get over COVID. It isn't going away. Chances are you were already exposed to it. If you haven't, you soon will be. Meanwhile, in the real world, Americans are dying en masse of heart disease and smoking at many multiples of COVID deaths. What a world we live in.

what is the rationale for not mixing vaccines from different manufacturers?

I repeat: "I don't know" only means "I don't know." It does not mean "you don't know," "we can't know," "nobody knows" or anything else of that sort. And it isn't an answer.

The rationale is "no one knows" yet. The studies are not yet complete. I really can't believe how many anti-science people there are on Slashdot. You should not inject yourself with vaccine combinations unless there has been controlled studies done that have been peer-reviewed and published and the scientific consensus says it is OK and a recommendation has been made. That hasn't happened yet. I really can't believe I am arguing about this. And yeah, "nobody knows" is a perfectly good answer in Science.
