Yes, rounded corners, 1 click, and all the other concepts of a idea that get patented to stifle innovation. If you come up with a design to turn whosits into whatits and patent it, that is great. But, if someone else independently comes up with a way to turn whosits into whatits better and cheaper than you, that should be fair game.

Just because they are a multi-billion dollar company doesn't make them immune from dumb decisions. I work for one, and see it everyday. I can make pretty power point charts with the best of them. Maybe it works for them, maybe it doesn't. Personally, I barely find it worthwhile at $20 a month, and that's only because it gets used at my parents house. I'm sure there are some serious abusers. Maybe they need a smarter way to filter those out rather than a blanket policy for everyone.

I do hope they send an apology card begging me to come back after I cancel. Maybe some flowers too, but then I may have moved on to someone who gets me.

Even if only 1/3 were paying you still need 1M to add the extra fee to make up for it. I am waiting for it in the US, and will drop if they hit me for an extra fee. I have elderly parents who watch my kids, so I share with them. It's a nice to have, but won't be worth it if they add another fee. They are already the most expensive service.

Not necessarily. It's estimated there are 5M Netflix subscribers in Spain, if 1M left that were paying $18/month, there is no way the remaining 4M, paying an extra $6.57 would make up the difference. That assumes everyone is paying the extra fee for additional people to do any better than breaking even. If they really lost 20% of their subscribers, that seems huge.

Is the remote start for BMW just from the key fob? I assumed it was from the app as well. The article doesn't make it clear, but a search talks about the app. When GM is charging more than BMW, there's a problem. I think Lincoln still offers remote start for free. I get charging to things that require data services to function, but they should be able bundle for a significant discount. Something like heated seats should be a one time unlock fee for the lifetime of the vehicle.

Totally agree. I have kids coming into the gaming age, and wanting access to everything. I'm trying to figure out how to manage it as well when the kids keep saying all my friends have full access, why don't I. At least in the beginning I would like to know who they can contact or be contacted by. The gaming systems should make it easier for family accounts, and they don't seem to be trying very hard.

I filed an FTC complaint about them years ago, when their minimum package went from 3 to 6 to 12Mbps, prices went up, but service was still averaging 1Mbps. I got a call from a marketing director giving me the whole "up to" language and asking me to withdraw my complaint. They could promise up to anything, but they weren't making any changes to meet any minimum requirements.

None of them are perfect. This exploit looks like it is related to their disk sharing application, which I have disabled. If you open up outside access, it is just another route for attack. At least when you have open firmware, people having a chance to fix it on their own instead of relying on a company to do it for them.
