Rich and powerful complaining to each other (Score 1)

If AI is really about the future of humanity then why isn't OpenAI cooperating with the PRC on the further development of DeepSeek? Distillation is an optimization technique that should result in DeepSeek being even more energy efficient and thus better for all of humanity. Of course OpenAI doesn't really care about the future of humanity - only the future of their bank account. It's ironic that a company who has already stolen the creative output of millions of people around the world (if not billions) is complaining that somebody is 'gaming' the system. The scariest part here is that we're seeing a corporation drum up more anti-Chinese sentiment and fear of America 'loosing' the ai 'race'. The worst case scenario is that the politicians might actually *do something* that would only further isolate America on the global stage. The fact that OpenAI has to stoop to whining to Congress about DeepSeek surpassing their capabilities should tell you all you need to know about the future of OpenAI's. If I was an investor I would seek to divest *now*. As an end user - I already tell people not to use them - move on to another provider. This company is going no where fast.
