Microsoft's code isn't especially shoddy, all large codebases that are getting AI review right now are experiencing the same thing.

omg are you a shill or just living on another planet? Just dove into Win11 for the last 2 month after years away and Windows is an absolute shit show. A pure example of how you can put too much lipstick on a pig...how is it justifiable for people who actually paid for that garbage? Windows has never been good. The best it was, is barely acceptable. Microsoft should be prosecuted for turning one of the greatest achievements of all time (computers) into something that barely functions for most people. When Bill Gates said "Well he's dead now so you always have to be careful" about his 'meetings' with Epstein, it laid bare to the whole world what MS is about, and it isn't progress.

Why did you have any faith to begin with? Sure there have been some shining moments in history...Moon landing? Yippee! Then we get the war on communism/drugs/"terrorism"/"climate change"/(insert failed idea here)... The majority of time is replete with violence, destruction, the work of socio/psycho-paths, cultures of compulsive liars and tyrants being allowed to spread into the nice bits, willful ignorance and adherence to blind ideology. Most beneficial products of civilisation have been co-opted in one way or another by some group of assholes. Just look at the difference in the internet over the last 30 years, from hopeful enthusiasm about the future to reddit and slashdot. Maybe that's why we can't have nice things...and then when nice people get a nice place to live, we are constantly harangued about our "carbon footprint" and how we're evil for being so successful by people who know what they're doing is wrong, but do it anyway, because even though they "invented the internet", they are fundamentally evil and malicious. It suffices to say that a lot of people are just struggling to deal with the big questions, and lack the critical thinking skills to sort shit from clay, which is partially by design in the "education" systems, media etc and partially because intelligence varies across a spectrum, so they resort to "culture" as their guide on how to live, what's good, what's not etc etc....and tbh that sounds a recipe for disaster...look at anywhere with thousands of years of history in one region and name me one that is doing well...might as well ask the designers of the Titanic to produce a ship that won't sink...I'm sure the descendants of those who proposed the Titanic are hard at work on the internet today, and nowhere is that more evident than at /. where the people who "maintain" this site are content to see how low they can go and still get away with it. YMMV
