Voice recognition would be more of a hassle. I like to talk to people in my car rather than my mp3 player. With no display you don't have the best navigation of your 6+ gig collection of music. Wouldn't it be nice to see a dash mounted remote control display for xmms that displayed the track being played and 1 or 2 tracks a head and behind it in the playlist?
