Journal silent_rock's Journal: summer holiday 2

Not a banner week, but getting better now. Sickness was a downer. Watching Love, Actually did not improve my mood. (No, love is not actually all around us, I won't believe it.) I think I'm becoming a movie snob... Any movie with orchestral music that is timed to tug at the viewer's heartstrings = bad. Costco, Safeway, and two trips to 7 Palms to square away Speaker's Program refreshments also did not lift my spirits. Lab - not the most enjoyable part of my week. Watching Red Sox (or, as my mom likes to say, Red Sock) win was nice though. Spending Friday at the field station wasn't bad either. I just watched Summer Holiday (HK movie) which I thought was cool, mostly because it didn't really take itself seriously. Summer Holiday - good romantic comedy. Love, Actually - not so good romantic comedy (to me). Summer Holiday - they end up together at the end, but not before the conceited, arrogant, friendless lead female goes about her calculating ways. And the guy totally falls for her real self.

This week was the first time I learned about the little box in the lower-left corner of Excel cells that fills the formula down. It's smarter than Ctrl-D. I feel dumb.

Almond Milk Tea Boba (hot) at new Tapioca Express on Shattuck. Yum. I think they should add some neon light decorations to the inside, to go with the techno music.

  • your dislike for failure in relationships should not convince you that love is not actually all around. if you got out of your stupid little office more, realized you are fun and attractive and generally a much more pleasant person than you allow yourself to be and for god sakes let your f***ing guard down once in a while (don't make me bring up Celcius) a movie like love actually would inspire, rather than disappoint, you. I felt wonderful after watching that movie, despite the fact my heart has been brok
