Remember that USA paralyzed the appelate body, source of a lot of issues in global trade and unchecked tariffs today.
They should name a new representative and let the organisation handle a huge backlog of cases. Yes, even if USA is the accused, they can just keep ignoring it.

From what I am reading, they are planning to push this via play protect update - this can't be blocked at device level, and good luck persuading your carrier to firewall it for you (and what happens in roaming?). In short, installing 3rd party apps will be blocked REMOTELY by google at the given deadline.

That is simply unacceptable.

It'd be a good way to get rid of gasoline taxes in Europe. But also why they would never allow it.
Another question is of quality of gas (octane number), maybe additives are needed and this is what they could actually tax.

Right, EU should go to back to 2000. Maybe ban smarthphones too? Join North Korea and the likes in how information reaches citizens. And hey, why just not make it intranet and disconnect from all the toxic shit?
And, while at it, let's make mr. Musk take his Starlink too, switch it off both in EU and Ukraine.
Seriously, at this rate EU will soon build a firewall like China and have only sanitized content. No real information about the war or dire state of economy, just heavily redacted and directed stuff like you see in all mainstream media within the EU.

For several reasons, first is that it's not difficult to stock on these chips. They had 4 years to stock up and will probably have years of stash to spend even if all supplies stop right now. I.e. enough to reach their goals.
And then, the real reason why controls were not ramped up during Biden, is it would make those chips less cost competitive to foreign alternatives. Chinese alternatives have been emerging recently, especially wrt. TI and AD, and they couldn't care less about a bunch of Ukrainian activists making a lawsuit in the US, they will happily make it easier for suppliers worldwide to get chips with no strings attached, eroding US market share in this area.

Chances are, too, that this lawsuit will be thrown out of court because of shift of (presidential) political attitude towards Ukraine and Russia and will be viewed as an attempt to harm US companies and introduce burdens on sales of these chips.
Government will lobby against it, and courts will be less likely to go against it. Maybe they picked their jurisdiction cleverly, aiming for anti-Trump judges, but then they better reach a settlement because at appeals or supreme court this will be thrown out with high likelihood.
