Finally, a relevant reply! Thank you. As a 'Ignorant' Yank who is aware of our Northern Neighbor, I resent some of the ignorant stereotyping comments elsewhere here. And yes, someone needs to figure out what Radar did with all that data. Now if you would, please, pass me a Blueberry muffin and a decent cup of coffee...

Comment TVA's "hydro" output. (Score 1) 206

For fun, take a look at TVA's output from their hydro electric plants over the past five years. Last time I checked, you have to really dig for the information only to find out that several of the generators at various dams are off-line and are not producing. Then for further enjoyment, dig into it and figure out just how many 'hydro' plants TVA has, and just how much energy has been produced from them in the last five years. And then, if you would please, explain to me why our electricity from TVA is so d*mn high...

Comment Re:Here's an offensive term (Score 1) 570

Actually it has been discussed before, 25+ years ago back in the '90s, and not by a 'minority of people'. Secretary of Energy was touring a facility and noticed the terms on control panels as well as control room screens. It was also discussed quite a bit on Usenet. If only evolution worked, we wouldn't be discussing this in 2021. It is time for a 'Backlash' - against ignorance.

All the 'negative' coverage in mainstream news about cord-cutting the last few months? Even NPR has had a couple of articles. Seems that slamming cord-cutting has become all-the-rage. We cut (6) years ago, and the only thing missed is breaking news and perhaps the winter Olympics. Netflix and a Roku and we're good to go. True our internet feed comes from Spectrum but they're sole provider in this area.

Comment I wonder... (Score 1) 677

I'm no lawyer, but I wonder, what if you make up a custom license plate frame, copyright it or trademark it or whatever, then when they snag a picture of your plate and the frame is in it, and that picture is then sold for profit. . . Kind of like doing up a video for YouTube and forgetting that you have your favorite radio station on in the background.

Heck the i9 BS was broken when it first came out in the '80s. I had to jump through hoops to get a copy of my BC from IL while living in SoCal. Then at the company I was working at they discovered that there were over 90 people with the same SSN. Or rather immigration did when they busted the place. Despite being computerized, no one in HR noticed the duplicates??? Need heavy fines against companies or individuals who hire/exploit illegal immigrants.

Comment Insulting... (Score 1) 343

Who else finds the title of this request for comments insulting and contemptuous? "Ask Slashdot: What's the Best Way to Retrain Old IT Workers?" and "gofers" Sounds like this manager wannabe is talking about livestock and is clueless to the real world as it is aptly described in other responses. "Peter's Principle" is still valid . . .
