They're not "required" to recuse themselves. And most judges consider themselves above bias, all evidence to the contrary, so they don't recuse themselves. See Antonin Scalia for a prime example.

The longest range I have ever killed a bird with a 12 gauge was about 40 meters, and that was using Winchester Blind Side 3-1 3/8-BB steel hex shot. That's a very hot round.
I live in a rural area more than half a mile from a small road.
Try suing me for shooting down your toy helicopter if you fly it over my property under legal altitude in this county.
Snooping isn't a right.
About 11 to 12 years ago, I encountered an HP3000 MPE/ix machine dated 1981 or thereabout.
It was still running the entire back end for a fairly large charity org based out of Colorado Springs, CO.
They should have a class that lets the kids that want to write software do so, and the ones that don't can be the testers. Learning how to test and report issues properly is a fairly valuable skill from my perspective.
The kids that are so inclined can write games or apps, and the kids that aren't can test them and learn (at least) basic online security skills before the apps are ready.
I work at a Fortune 500 company, and we are required to do verified static analysis every six months on all of our source code (with 30 to 60 days to fix anything considered a serious risk -- XSS, SQL injection, etc. -- which we avoid anyway), and manual pen testing bi-annually. We also have to adhere to PCI standards (via regular Qualys scans). It's a hassle, but it protects our data and our clients, so I'm cool with it.
"What he's saying is that the music industry is in a creative crisis"
Oh please. Music sucked just as much in the early 70s as it does now. It's just that people selectively forget all of the utter shite, and then pine for the "good old days."
I've got news for ya. There never were any "good old days."
And people, PLEASE stop exaggerating Elton John's influence on music. I don't recall any band that ever claimed him as an influence. Of course, I think his music is crap, so I don't imagine that I would listen to a band that sounded even remotely like him...
