I often use public wireless here in US. As such, I subscribe to a domestic VPN service. So, I get an IP address that is in SF area for my tunnel. Can Netflix tell if a VPN user is from US or international? If not, then they are denying service to valid Netflix subscribers in the US. My option would be to stop the VPN and allow my traffic to go across wireless network "not encrypted". Hopefully, I will remember to restart VPN when finished with Netflix streaming. Hey, I'm almost 70, so good luck on me remembering anything!

Last month, I crashed my bike on the sidewalks of San Jose. No car or peds or other bikes. Just me being an idiot. To make matters worse, no helmet! 3 days in hospital plus 10 staples in the scalp. No major injury. Just rung my bell. The dizziness has finally gone away. I wear a helmet now. Oh, Im 68years old. This is my first bike accident. Hopefully, my last.

Late 70's. Central datacenter for a state not to be mentioned. I modified the JES2 startup JCL. Our mean-time-to-reboot was typically 2 weeks. Because of important state business, we didn't get a chance to reboot for 3 weeks. So, we reload and JES2 dies for JCL error. Then, we realized that all of our daily backups have the same error. And our last 2week backup has same problem. Our next backup, monthly, is stored at a site that is 1.5 hours away. Meanwhile, programs like AFDC and prison support apps are not up. Governor starts getting calls from important folk - wheres the system? Governor calls DP director - wheres the system? I see the end of my career looming. Fortunately, my boss had an old SVS system on tape that was just enough to allow us to edit the JES2 deck. After this, we changed our backup policy and put in stricter rules on modifying production systems. I just retired after 46years in computer industry. Still remember the fear on that day.

We were all teenagers once. And it sucked for most of us. Did for me. I tried to disappear. Didn't work.

63. Need lotsa healthcare for my aging body. So, I will stay at my current job till my corpse is cold and rotting. My retirement plan involves a pine box and grieving relatives. A big hint for everyone - plan to retire at 55. work on that goal. Retire while your body is young and useful. See ya on the other side.....
