Comment We only have three seasons (Score 1) 451

Here in Lake Havasu City, AZ, there are three seasons:

Summer lasts from the end of Spring Break until Snowbird Season in September/October. Snowbird Season lasts for months until March/April when Spring Break season starts. Spring Break lasts for a few months until the end of May/beginning of June when the Summer heat returns, driving away all of the Spring Breakers smart enough to get out.

Each change of season is indicated by the large group of people leaving or returning. Snowbirds arrive when it starts to get tolerable outside, but they're driven away like magnetic polar opposites when the Spring Breakers start showing up. And most of the Spring Breakers know better than to stick around when it starts hitting 110+ for Summer.

Have you installed Chrome? You check a box and click a button in Firefox, and it launches another program to install Chrome, which asks for no confirmation or installation location.

I'm not used to my browser launching applications without downloading it and it asking me if it should be run first.

Rule #1: Users are stupid.
They don't know WTF they're doing and when software ends up on the computer that offers to be their default browser and all of a sudden, their menus are gone from the top of "the Internet", they ask for help, and someone has to show them what they did so they don't do it again or configure the computer/domain so that it can't happen again.

This program installs itself to %userprofile% instead of %programfiles%

lUsers without admin privileges can install this, introducing unwanted software to your network and creating security issues.

I believe Google must fix this, but I don't think they will unless people start demanding it.

Any suggestions as to where we can do that where they might actually listen?

kad77 writes "It appears that, despite skepticism, 'muslix64' was the real deal. Starting from a riddle posted on pastebin.com, members on the doom9 forum identified the Title key for the HD-DVD release 'Serenity.' Volume Unique Keys and Title keys for other discs followed within hours, confirming that software HD-DVD players, like any common program, store important run-time data in memory. Here's a link to decryption utility and sleuthing info in the original doom9 forum thread. The Fair Use crowd has won Round One; now how will the industry respond?"
