Only a small fraction of the new usps trucks will be electric and this is an Eventual outcome.
Louis Dejois has fought tooth and nail to prevent electrification and has only committed to 10% of the truck becoming electric. this has only recently changed to an undetermined number after a few states and the biden administration sued to force the change.
It tells you something if Dejois has been able to control the narrative so well people are misconstruing 10% 20% as the majority.
here is a quote from a 2022 newsweek story:
âoeEffort Underway to Oust USPS Head DeJoy Over Failure to Electrify Vehicles feb 03/22:
DeJoy has made a modest commitment to adding electric vehicles to the USPS fleet, pledging to make 10 percent of the fleet electric while maintaining that the entire fleet cannot be made electric due to a lack of funding.âoe
sure the build back better act has provided more money, but the commitment to EVs is still very much bellow what is necessary to make a majority of truck carbon neutral.
