Journal Journal: voter apathy?

Voter apathy? I doubt it. I cannot believe that the internet, with 20 million users, and blogs and other public information created by citizens, is the same set of citizens that apathetically don't vote every couple years.

Journal Journal: email is dead

I am told to hide or obscure my e-mail, or use some sneaky 3rd party crap for my e-mail. Well this officially spells the end of email. A tool that requires me to obscure it, it of no use to me. I write code, I post articles, I have a concsulting website. I want people to easily contact me. I'm sorry if they need to go thru the smallest hoop just to send me a quickie comment, then they will not bother.

cpo is one of the best i have seen. Its a scene from the movie "core". It depicts the center of the earth thru the window of a research vessle that has been dispatched to the center of the earth. ILM or Lucas Arts should hire this guy for a movie or something, IMO

Journal Journal: Coliseum gladiatorial battles

I used to wonder how a culture could get to the point where thousands would gather in a stadium and watch men battle to the death, or slaughter animals, etc...

Then I was watching FOX, and the new trend of reality shows. Shows depecting little people seeking love, porn stars at a nudist camp (surreal life), People getting married for money, People being tricked into "falling in love" with pretend millionaires. In many respects it is worse than anything that happened in the coliseum.

Journal Journal: websites that suck

SourceForge.net, what a wierd and ungodly format for a website. Its a great idea, but who the fuck designed this website? Whenever I am interested in a sourceforge project, I am confronted with a gross navigation system.

I want to know: (1) Download the source code, (2) documentation, (3) who is developing the project.

Obviously these things are available somewhere, but for the life of me, it is not obvious or easy to use.

Well yet another virus plunders the internet. Viruses and Spam are related. Both are wrecking are ability to enjoy the internet. I remember being able to safely open a word document sent from a friend. Or an Excel Spreadsheet, etc...

Journal Journal: Spam Counter Attack Strategy

I thought of a possible solution to reduce the spam. It has its origin in evolution and predator/prey behavior. In the wild, a grazing animals will prefer to hang out in a herd, and thus statistically reduce their chances of being eaten.

Being in the center of the herd is the best place to be. If you find yourself in a small group of animals away from the main herd, the odds of your being targeted is much higher.

Journal Journal: Reality TV

Oh-My-God! Fox has little-people. WBN has Surreal Life, which shows ex-porn star Ron Jeremy and other washed up personalities jabber and strip. What a freak show.

The trend I am seeing is the same that happened with day-time talk shows. At first we had the respectable Phil Donahue and Oprah. Day-time talk ultimately degraded to the category of Freak Show, with little respect or intellectual content.
