I don't use Home, there is zero reason to do so. There is a slightly more than zero reason to use Win 10 Pro. It is shocking that OEM's even offer home since it must raise their support costs when MS bricks their customers computers.

On Pro, you can hold off on security patches for up to 30 days - which can be taken away on a whim, they can totally ignore any user setting. I have never been bricked by a security update but it is certainly possible. I thought it had because I did drop it to zero days for this embarrassingly terrible bug and on the forced reboot it kept saying disk not found after the GRUB screen but after a hard shutdown it worked again.

Luckily I dual boot so I will never lose my machine or data.

MS is following the "customers are the product" model so they will never put out a decent OS that gives users what they want. The only solution is to use their crap as little as possible and shut down the spyware and ads as much as possible. Once I configured Win 10 properly, I have never seen an ad in the OS.

Sticking with Win 7 should be doable for a long while, at least while there is still hardware it will run on. A good external firewall and run only up to date browsers and other programs should keep it as safe as any MS product can be.

Any business putting their business in the hands of the 'cloud' will get what they deserve. They will whinge and cry but it is their own fault and will deserve the financial hit.

I am with you, why anyone take MS seriously in regards to anything, especially security is mind-boggling. Decades of history hasn't taught enough people, humans have to learn the same lessons over and over again.

Garbage in; garbage out applies to cooking also. A good cook can do a lot of great things with bottom round as long as it is a reasonable grade of beef. You don't need to be a master chef or even a trained chef to pull it off.

The cheapest salmon is bad, nothing will change that, just because your dad can't cook doesn't change that. Try giving him the garbage you buy to cook.

That is assuming that salmon are the only food fish. It is a fairly low quality fish anyways. The fats are really the only good thing about them and not the only source, plus they are a mediocre tasting fish. In the north pacific: cod, ling cod, pollack, sole, flounder and especially halibut are all superior fishes.

Mismanagement is horrifying, especially in Washington state where, despite a record low run where they ended up curtailing the recreational fishery substantially, they allowed gill nets in the Columbia river from both commercial fishing and the tribes. At this point the only way to save it is to ban all salmon fishing in the rivers and off the coast for 5 years and spend that time coming up with reasonable and sustainable rules. The governor is too cowardly to do it and the commercial fishermen are too short sighted to support it, and the tribes will not agree and we will all lose.

The idiocy is stunning, the commercial fisherman will give up all of their future earnings for a few dollars today. Their myopia is truly remarkable.

Farm raised fish are nasty. The meat is weak and smushy and the price difference between the same species farmed and wild-caught is negligible.

Catch a trout out of a lake and compare it to a trout in a river or stream, the river/stream fish is much better. With salmon the difference is way more pronounced between wild and farmed. This is true of other species like catfish. If I want salmon or catfish I can drive an hour away and catch both out of the same river, or go to a local fish shop and get wild salmon and they taste so much better.

We simply don't know if creating these unnatural fake species will cause harm to our health or the environment. The genes that that combine would never happen in nature, unlike simple cross-breeding. Given that they taste bad, there is no reason to even bother with Frankenfish.

I am hoping AquaBounty crashes and burns spectacularly.
