Journal: Mods and Karma

This karma business is ridiculous. I guess I can understand that just being funny can't earn you better karma. However, having a post that has positive points for "Funny" modded down for being "Overrated" and hurting your karma is terrible (oh wait, that's what Slashdot says my karma is right now). If a post is predominately modded up as Funny but has a couple of Overrated attached to it, your karma is affected negatively because someone who was given mod powers didn't think you were funny. When I try to post other things in an attempt to be interesting or insightful, they're easily overlooked now because my starting score is at the same level of the Anonymous Coward and it seems that most mods don't view posts that have a score less than 1.

Add this rule to the mod system: If a post has more Funny mods than Overrated mods, the Overrated mods do not count against karma.
